JobScouts Supporting Displaced Aussie Workers

March 20th, 2020 – 2:57pm

Melbourne, Australia – Over the past 48 hours, JobScouts has been inundated with new users. Candidates and Scouts alike these are people who were, in some cases up until only hours prior, gainfully employed.

JobScouts is not unique in this, the floods of recently displaced workers at employment services of all kinds around the country stands as evidence.

It’s saddening, worrying and threatens the very fabric of Australia’s society.

In a statement yesterday, JobScouts Founder Daniel Martin, said “The thought of the devastating emotions being felt in Australian families is physically sickening. To know that genuine, honest and hard working Australians are suddenly facing a future with seemingly no pathway forward, is downright gut-wrenching. Particularly when everything is entirely out of the control of all parties involved.”

We know that Australian businesses are trying to do the best they can to keep people employed. Some businesses simply have no more customers and thus can’t keep people in jobs, other businesses have so much work they don’t know how to hire people fast enough.

Stuck in the middle are the Australians who suddenly find themselves out of work, not knowing where to turn next.

JobScouts has seen much evidence of this over the past 48 to 72 hours. Not only have we had a massive influx of new users, we’ve spoken to many directly and heard their stories of sudden life changes. One Candidate, a soon to be Aussie father who up until recently was a senior manager, was embarrassed to admit that  “I’ll do whatever there is to do, I’ll even shine your shoes”.

The amount of Candidates we have far exceeds the numbers of roles we have available. We have an abundance of great Candidates that we’d like to find great roles for.

Further, we have had a rapid growth in Scout numbers, people who know people looking for work. These Scouts are often still employed, thus aren’t looking for new work themselves, but they are connected to the communities of who people do need work. These Scouts have front-line access to exactly the right people for open roles.

They know who REALLY needs the work, as well as who has the skills for a role.

To this end, we’re doing our bit to help. We’re offering our platform for free to any business who has a role open to fill.

Any businesses who wants to connect with the community to find the right Candidate, will have all JobScouts fees waived.

We are not a publicly listed company looking for a positive news story. We have no external investors who we need to appease with a feel good press release.

We are a 100% Australian made, owned and operated business. We really know what the hardship feels like. We want to do our part in minimising the impact for ordinary Australians who find themselves in a hard place through absolutely no fault of their own.

If you’re a business who wants to find a Candidate from the community for an open role, you may do it yourself through the platform, or the JobScouts team will do it for you. We are volunteering our teams time for free to businesses who are willing to step up and utilise community connections to fill roles they have open.

Businesses wishing to list a role can contact David McPherson at [email protected]

For every Australian going through hardship as a result of the most extreme economic downturn in nearly a century, we wish you the best of luck.

As every person in Australia does right now, we wish any sufferers of the virus and the economy, a speedy recovery.
