Frequently Asked Questions

Answers for Hirers

No, absolutely not, that’s not how it works. Job Scouts is a platform that connects you (the ‘Hirer’) with members of the public (the ‘Scouts’) who may know a person who will fit your role. The Scout then introduces the Candidate to you through the platform.

Job Scouts in no way shape or form goes out and attempts to find the person for you. We are neither a recruitment agency nor an online job board.

No. If you post a job here, it is not made public. It is only visible to Scouts who fit the criteria upon which you are looking to recruit.

For example, if you have chosen to make your job visible to Scouts who live in the Melbourne area, then the job will be visible to only those people.

There is no way to search the available jobs to apply as a candidate.

Whatever you want. You get to choose the amount you wish to pay for an introduction or for a placement. It is entirely up to you.

Job Scouts will provide recommendations for certain roles based on benchmarks across the system, but there is no maximum or minimum mandated.

Typically, if a job is of high value and the person required to fit the role is hard to find, then the recommended fee is higher. By contrast, if the person you’re looking for is easy to find, the fee you may wish to pay would be lower.

JobScouts is not a job board. Seek is a job board. On a job board, all jobs are public and anyone can apply. Sure, there are qualification restrictions or questionnaires that Candidates can be forced to complete prior to applying, but ultimately anyone can apply.

On JobScouts, jobs are not public. Jobs are released and visible only to Scouts. Scouts then share jobs with their friends and family either directly or through Social Media.

Candidates apply, but only after they have been filtered and invited directly by our Scouts.

That’s how we’re different to Seek.

Recruiters search out Candidates for you, often using the same methods that you use.

Recruiters come with a big fee, and often have exclusivity restrictions that mean you can’t fill the role through any other methods.

With JobScouts, you set the fee, you’re free to fill the role through whatever method you like, and you’ll have 100’s or 1,000’s or Scouts searching out Candidates for you.

After you’ve chosen who you want to see your role and how much you’re willing to pay per interview and per placement, you’ll then be displayed with a total amount for the role.

That total amount is taken out of your JobScouts wallet as soon as you launch your role. If you do not have enough in your wallet, you’ll need to top it up using your credit card OR pay a JobScouts invoice.

When your role is launched, the money is deducted from your wallet and held in escrow. Any unused funds at the completion of the role are fed back to your wallet.

Our Scouts range from ordinary Australians looking to support the people they know, through to highly specialised and niche professionals who work in roles and industries that are often hard to find.

We also have a range of professional and semi-professional recruiters who assist in scouting for roles on JobScouts.

Answers for Scouts

You will be paid a fee per interview held and per placement.

Placement fees are split across the probationary period. This will depend on how the hirer chooses to split the amount. It may be 50/50 or 80/20 or something different. It is entirely up to the hirers discretion.

Money you’ve earned from successful interviews or placements is paid to your Job Scouts wallet.

Once in your wallet, you may choose to leave it there to earn interest. Interest rates in Job Scouts are very very generous and are paid to your account at the end of each month.

If you wish to withdraw your money, you can do so by connecting your credit or debit card to Job Scouts and choosing ‘withdraw’.

Absolutely nothing. It costs you nothing to be a Scout on JobScouts!

Just join and wait for the roles to be sent to you.

Through your personal networks or through sharing on your Social Media profiles.

It’s up to you how you search for Candidates and how hard you want to look!
